Panaji: The first round of admissions for general stream undergraduate programme seats in colleges across Goa has recently concluded and the first merit list will be released by the directorate of higher education (DHE) to colleges through its Samarth portal on Tuesday.

A total of 29,400 applications have been received from students for 41 colleges in around 42 different programmes under the DHE, said Mahadev Gawas, Nodal officer UG Admission (DHE Goa). In the 41 colleges, there are 9,500 seats available in self-financed programmes, he said.

Each college will now independently prepare its merit list based on the
applications received through DHE. These merit lists will then be displayed on each college website. Based on this, students will will get admission to the first year of of general stream programmes like BA, BSc and BCom.

“This high level of engagement demonstrates the the portal’s efficiency and user-friendliness. Students can apply to multiple colleges under a single registration, free of charge, making the process more accessible and less cumbersome. The Samarth portal has been by Delhi University and supported by the Union education ministry. This initiative marks a significant step towards streamlining the admission process across higher education institutes in Goa,” Gawas said.
